French cruiser Lapérouse

The ''Lapérouse'' was a barbette cruiser of the French Navy, lead ship of her class, named after Jean-François de Galaup, comte de Lapérouse.
The Lapérouse served as a defensive cruiser in the French Navy and was built at Brest, with work commencing in 1875, launched in 1877 and was subsequently wrecked in 1898 in the East Indies after being hit by a storm on 31 July 1898 in Fort-Dauphin's Bay.Anosy Madagascar All hands were saved.
She was part of the Far East Squadron under Admiral Amédée Courbet.
